hello and welcome to allnurses.com

good to have you with us.

once you've become and rn, you need to get some rn experience under your belt. working in the ed (emergency department) will give you first-hand exposure to forensic medicine.

check out these sticky threads found in the forensic nursing forum for a better idea about the career:

how do i become a forensic nurse/role of the forensic nurse

forensic nursing - is it for you?

the sexual assault nurse examiner - sane

we hope you enjoy your stay here at allnurses.com.

hi, 2bnursebates. first, you need to get your rn. that can be done at any approved rn program at the state in which you live. once you have your rn license, you will look for a job in the forensic field. in the acute hospital, it's most likely to take you into emergency room nursing. i am posting the forensic nursing page from the discover nursing website for you. it gives you information about this specialty as well as some links to their national associations. i've also posted information about sane-a, the certification to collect evidence of rape that many er nurses now are being asked to get. i admire you. i had a difficult time working with any patients who were victims of shootings, stabbings or any kind of violence inflicted upon them by others. guess i believe too much in the goodness of man to believe that there are jerks in the world who can do these things to people.
