Can you get your name on a waiting list for the RN program? Then in the meantime, go for your LPN? Have you checked out vo-tech programs for practical nursing? Here, the vo-tech school starts practical nursing classes every 3 months for FT day classes & every 6 months for PT evening classes.

hey ladies and germs,
im sure there's about 20 other posts along the same lines as this, but i will repeat the trend. i currently work in ltc as a dietary aide. i absolutely love it, despite it's bad days. i have also worked in patient care in the ed/op/icu, though it was mostly coding, asking pts questions regarding demographics, etc. anyway, i love the field and i really want to be an rn, but all the schools in denver have rediculous waiting lists/pre reqs/etc. i wanna get the ball rolling though, so i was accepted into concorde's lpn program. their tuition is pretty ridiculous, but i can make monthly payments, and at least start somewhere. i need some advice though, all the nurses at my work are giving me mixed advice. "just go for rn, its so much smarter financially, i wish i did." "start with lpn, see if you want to pursue rn, work and do school at night or weekends." "there are no lpn jobs." and so on and so forth, but i feel like right now my only option is lpn, or waiting at least a year for rn.
can i get some other advice?
thanks!
