Some trends on my NCLEX I just took and passed 6 days ago

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hey guys,

I recently passed the NCLEX RN exam on May 4, 2016 on my 1st attempt. I utilized the Kaplan course nearly exclusively for the entirety of my preparation. I supplemented the course by googling certain topics to get more information and also acquiring the random photo mnemonics I found online. That's all, nothing more and passed it. I took the 3 day on campus course and read the entire book plus took all the practice exams that they offered.

Real talk; everybody's exam is different based on my peers input. I heard stories that the exams offered after March 2016 would be more difficult, not sure about the validity of that. All I know is that my exam(May 2016) was really hard. Lots of SATA type questions, multiple questions in a row with no set pattern. Not even the "hard" questions always followed the "easy" questions type of counter intuitive pattern. It was very random. I can tell you that the generic name of the drugs were used throughout my exam. Be familiar with pharmaceutical generic and brand names to avoid a total brain freeze in the event they throw either one at you. There was a lot of standard, contact, droplet, airborne precautions on my exam. These type of questions can be tricky even though the subject matter is easy to retain, just be prepared to answer anything. That's pretty much it for now, good luck to anyone preparing for the NCLEX-RN EXAMW
