I am so darn tired on my days off, I just want to lay around and do NOTHING. I don't care about dinner, a clean house or anything. I just want to sleep. My body aches and I am JUST. PLAIN. TIRED. Is it just me?

I starting to notice that not only do I not get enough sleep, but I don't get the right kind of sleep. I fall asleep then i wake up, go back to sleep, wake up, go back to sleep. I can't even sleep at night right. If I go to bed at 11p on my off days I wake up at 5am???? today I went to sleep at 10am woke up at 4p and wasn't able to go back to sleep. I gotta get off nights. I've been working nights for atleast 5 years, but these 12 hour shifts are a killer and people think working only 3 days is a charm? sure *sarcastic*

I work 8-16-16-8, and I veg out the first day off. All the other days I'm at the gym, and it really helps a lot with the fatigue and depression.

I'm tired too! I worked two days, then was off today. Slept till 7:30, when the oh-so-helpful cats woke me up demanding their breakfast. Ate some breakfast myself and played around on the computer till about 10:30, when I thought "I'll go lie down for just an hour" ... finally got back up at 3:30! And I'm working tomorrow so I want to be asleep no later than 10:30pm, as the alarm goes off at 4:50am.
I figure I wouldn't sleep so much if my body didn't need it, but it feels like that's all I ever do!

I totally understand! I usually work anywhere from 5 to 7 night 12 hour shifts in a row and by the end of those nights, I don't know whether I'm coming or going! Emotionally, mentally, and physically drained! My first complete 24 hours off is most always wasted catching up on sleep. After that though I'm usually okay! Hang in there and know you're not alone!

I hear ya. I worked full time eves at a LTC/rehab. I was suppose to be working 8's but often was over shift (2-3 hours) to do all my documentation that I couldn't even start on with the multiple admits/dc, unstable patients, sundowning patients, patients that need 1-1 (not that facility or family will provide someone to just sit there with them and prevent them from getting up every second), etc. It wiped me out, four eve's in a row is the most I can tolerate.

I love the job, but it does drain the lifeblood out of you sometimes. Recharge your batteries - take a vacation and return for more fun/work!
