So tired of filling out the same application

Published

I am so tired of filling out the same application at healthcaresource for every different hospital to which I apply. I wish the hospitals would state in their job postings "new grad yes" or "new grad no", so I don't have to waste one more minute of filling out the same application with all this information they clearly don't need because they will never hire a new grad. Why does a company need the last 7 years of my address history before they even consider hiring me? Every single application that has asked me to fill out the reference section (at least 50 times), not one company has called any of my references, huge waste of time. There has to be an easier way to apply for jobs at the same website, it's almost a fulltime job in itself. I am sure there are new grads out there applying to every position, no matter what the post says.

The longterm care facilities are even worst, one called me in for an interview and stated in the interview that they aren't looking for full time nurses, just per diem. I applied for a full time nursing position, why are you wasting my time here? I got up and left in the middle of an interview last week at a long term care when she dropped that bomb. I politely said, "you are not looking for a full time RN, for which position you called me in to interview for?" she says "no", "thank you, I have to excuse myself, because I am not interested in a per diem position". In my mind I wanted to scream at the HR lady for having me drive a half hour, making me wait 45 minutes for a 10 minute interview with her. Then making me wait almost an hour for a follow up with director of nursing, who finally mentions they only want RN for per diem weekends, wasted an entire afternoon. It's so ridiculous they have this power to treat new grads so poorly, HR is a joke. I am just so frustrated with the amount of time I waste with all of these disorganized people.

I know exactly how you feel. Before I would just apply to as many job openings and didn't care if the job required experiences or only had per diem. But then I realized that I was wasting my time because none of them were calling me for an interview nor were they interested in really hiring. It was just protocol to post the darn position online. So now I call HR before I even start applying and let me tell you it saves me so much time. I would literally spend so much time filling out long applications over and over again, and I would never get a call. I know better now. Hospital treat us, new grad,s like we are nothing because they know there are many of us out there desperate for a job. But don't let it get to you. There is something out there for us. :)

Thanks for the encouragement. A friend of mine suggested Fed Exing my resume, cover letter, references, transcripts right to HR so I know they receive it, I am probably going to try and irritate them as little as possible though. I am still filling out applications, I will call HR from now on. It is to the point now where I am applying for jobs I don't even want (psych, peds), which probably frustrates the people who want those jobs. The whole industry is one big mess.

I am curious as what do you say when you call hr?? Sounds like a dumb question but I feel like a bother when I call. Looking for a job is so stressful. I feel lost and am sooo sick of filling out online apps. Thanks for any advice
