I am in a non-clinical MSN (Informatics) but a planning on going the extra year because I can teach with a doctorate-level degree. That is not my main goal, but my goal as an informatics nurse is to help bridge new nurses and residents from practicum to clinical practice, I need that extra bit. I am lucky that I have a Masters in another field so I will not need any electives, I am already in my practicum (which may morph into a FT job) so I will have plenty of time to accrue hours. I work at a teaching hospital, so I have great opportunities. The DNP is an advantage where I am. I am not sure about elsewhere.
