So I took the TEAS...

Published

Went and took the TEAS today...I was one question away from finishing the reading section, which was my first section, and the computer brought up an error screen. This happened to a few other students all simultaneously, and they were able to fix theirs. However, lucky me, they couldn't fix mine, so I had to move to a different computer:no: I got to start where I left off though, so not too much damage there...besides the fact that I was afraid the computer was going to mess up for the rest of the test. I felt pretty good about the test for the most part. I'm really good with english, so the reading and writing came pretty easy for me. The math was pretty basic as well...I just didn't know some of the metric conversions. The science section was another story...I feel pretty horrible about that part. It was asking questions about rocks and the periodic table. This is stuff that I haven't studied since I was 16 years old, and here I am almost 10 years later! I finished the test after about 2 hours...I was one of the first ones done. Not sure if that's good or bad:confused: I was disappointed to find out that we don't get our results right away...we have to wait a few days. Ugghhhh...more waiting! Anyway...just thought I'd share experience:D

wow... My TEAS was scantron based and non-calculator... But I think it's different for every TEAS exam site and BSN and/or ADN program.

the following week, I got an over all 80%. I decided that would be my first and last TEAS test ever to be taken in my life, though I could settle for a 93%.

wld cherry, sorry to hear you had a bad TEAS experience.

here's my experience on TEAS: it was all computer based and no calculators.....and we got our scores as soon as we were done with the test.

i had a hard time on the science part too. what does rock formation have to do with nursing anyway????? needless to say i bombed the science part my first time around. i was totally devastated. but then studied my butt off and took the science part over and passed with an 85%! (though it may not seem like a very high score, i was happy) this site helped me out alot and i got great suggestions on study guides (especially for the science part).

i had the chance to retake the entire test (too bring up my scores), but there was no way in hell i was going to put myself thru that anxiety again.

I took mine in June and had a 77% overall. I want to retake it because I hate the scores I have, but in the two schools that require you to take it one only lets you take it once and the other lets you take it twice. So I'm not sure what to do. I can either forget about the one school that only lets you take it once (it is a lot more expensive as well) or take it again to score higher for the second school.

I had an 83% in reading, an 82% in math, a 75% in English, and a 67% in science. I know I could do a lot better in both English and science, especially English. I only received a 42% in the sentence structure section, which I think I can do much better in if I take more time.

I wish we got our scores when we were done with the test! Ours was scantron based, no calculators of course. Atleast that eliminated the possibility of computer errors. I got an overall of 83.5% my first time as I went in simply wanting to feel out the test and see what it was all about (aka no studying). I wasn't happy with an 83.5% as I wanted in the 90s, so I went back and brushed up a little on fractions and some word problems and only scored an 87.7% (I think...? I'd have to double check that score but it's somewhere around there...I know I didn't get in the 90s!). Oh well! :) It's that science section, it gets me every time! Crazy stuff about clouds, mountains, rocks! Those aren't even prerequisite courses so they shouldn't be fair game...
