So Frustrated With Not Being Able to Find A Job in Colorado!

Published

I just moved to Denver, CO from the midwest and am having the HARDEST time finding a job!

I have counted my applications, and they tally somewhere in the neighborhood of 90! I am so frustred from hearing the phrase "we are looking for someone with experience." How am I supposed to get experience if no one will give me a job! I don't know what to do, and I'm about to resign to working at Einstein Bagels!! I AM A REGISTERED NURSE, and this is the best shot i've got?? I am doing a little bit of babysitting on the side right now, but I need something more stable. I need to pay rent and utilities, and unemployment is not agreeing with this.

I don't know what to do? Does anyone have any advice for me?

I interviewed for a job on Thursday (my first and ONLY interview in two months), and am praying to the Lord that I will get this job. (Truth be told, it is my dream job). But, that dreaded phrase haunts me...and I think might be the demise for me possibly not getting this job.

Again, advice?? I'm desperate.!

Thanks for reading.

Hi,

I am in the same situation. I just passed my boards and finding a new grad nursing job here is unbelievably hard!! Almost every where I've called says they aren't hiring new grads right now. I have an interview at Med Center of Aurora but unlike you this is not even close to my dream job. Oh well I guess just getting in the door and getting the experience so I can work in the field I want to.

Just wanted to say I was in the same boat at the end of the summer. I moved to Ft Collins and am now commuting to Cheyenne, WY where there are many more opportunities for new grads: they just hired 2 new grads after me!

Are you applying at hospitals and clinics? This was 8 years ago but I graduated from an Arizona college and moved to Colorado Springs right after, and was able to get a job with a nursing registry (as LPN) until I received my RN license a few months later. Once I had the RN license, I applied to a hospice, it was only part time but it got my foot in the door.

Did you work as a LPN during school? That will help a lot.

Specializes in Acute Care.

Try Memorial Health System in Colorado Springs, they are hiring new grads in all sorts of areas through a pretty decent new grad program. I got in 6 months ago right out of school. While I don't have alot of positive things to say with all the new managment coming in, its a job.
