Sneak peak 1st week of LPN School

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

Good afternoon,

I just started a 12 month LPN program. Today was the 1st of 3 days of orientation for LPN school and today went well. The two instructors that we met today were awesome. The first one was like a preacher. She really drilled everything and made sure you understood and she made us laugh and feel very comfortable. The second reminded a few of us of Betty White. She smiled and chuckled at the end of almost every thing she said. This lady is going for her Doctorate in Nursing (DNP). She's got to be in her mid to late 60's. It goes to show that you're never to old to learn!

Mostly what they told us was about how to prepare for success as a Nursing Student and what to expect. They told us we can take our nursing career as far as we want it to go. It's up to us to put in the work. And while we are students, nursing school must be the priority. We were told that today is the last day that we will ever act unprofessionally. We are to never lower ourselves to others levels. We are to be the example. We are to speak and act professional at all times (not just when we work as a nurse).

I know some schools get bad reps (this one does also). But so far, I am loving this school. I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of me, but I am willing and able and very driven to do what needs to be done to succeed. Therefore, nothing and no one will stand in my way of achieving my dream to be a nurse.

Anyone else recently start nursing school? Would love to hear about your beginning experiences.

Specializes in Postpartum, Mother/Baby, Comm. Health, Geriatric.

That's awesome. That's right never try to "fit in". Always be "you", meaning a qualified healthcare professional that knows their stuff and professional.

Strive to be the best, no matter the schools rep. Best wishes! Future :nurse:!
