Smoking History

Published

Does anyone know how to calculate smoking history in terms of pack years? I am doing a case study and the patient smokes 1 1/2 packs of cigarettes per day for 20 years.

Thanks!

Pack year is the number of years a patient has smoked cigaretees multiplied by the number of packs per day.

Your patient has a pack year of:

20
(number of years smoking)
x 1.5
(number of packs per day) =
30 pack years
