slower paced MSN in nursing education

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I work full-time and have a family. I was looking to get a master's in nursing education so I can teach at the community college level in 6 or so years. I work for the state and want to get to my 20 years so I can get retirement benefits so I'm not in a hurry and don't want to stress myself out. Do you guys know of any tracks or schools where you could just take one class at a time over the course of several years that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg??? Thanks!

I don't know what your definition of an arm and a leg is. But I'm looking at attending Mid-America Nazarene University. It's about $21k for the program and I was told it had to be completed within 6 years. I think there are 13 classes for the MSN. Just keep in mind, the longer you take to graduate, the more likely tuition or graduation requirements may change (This is any school)

I took online classes at a University in my State. I did not take the education route but I do know it is only 11 classes (3 credit hours each) and each class was around $315/hr. None of my books were expensive, most of them I rented. I went part time, each class was 8 weeks so I took a class the first 8 weeks then another the final 8 weeks. I am also busy, family, jobs, all that good stuff. One class at a time is easily doable.

I chose the University that I attend based on several strong recommendations. I'd also recommend looking at in-State Universities for the best cost of tuition.

Oh yeah, look up Eastern New Mexico university. I think the education msn is about $315 /hr even for out of state students as long as you are part time or less. That could be perfect for you. I remember looking into it a while back when I was considering an education program. Other posters on here have gone to that school.
