Sleeping amenities

Nurses General Nursing

I am on a committee r/t noise control and lack of sleep on our unit and we are trying to create an amenity bag with eye covers, ear plugs, etc. We are at square one and I am interested in info from anyone that has something like this on their unit or knows anything about starting this up...Any ideas?? THANKS.

Wow you must work at overly regulated bureaucratic hospital. A committee on noise control? Really? Couldn't this have been handled by an email reminding people to be quiet, and the charges making a specific point to remind the night shift to make less noise?

Specializes in OB, ER.

Control the noise so they don't have to block it out.

Keep doors shut, lights dim in the hallway, only talk in the nurses station not the hallways, definitely coordinate care so not to wake the patient often. I do like the idea of white noise, we don't have that but I'm sure it would help.
