I’m not sure if the healthcare experience is applicable to SJSU and their application process, but it was for all the other schools I applied to.

It's because @KikiCreakzis a baccalaureate. Starting Spring 23, sjsu only lets baccalaureates apply for the Spring and they give 6 spots (out of 60) for baccalaureate. So for undergrads, there are like 54 spots I believe. Her stats were compared with the other baccalaureates that applied and made it to the top 6! Anyways congrats ?

Hi, this starts in Spring 24’ I believe! And it means that prior baccalaureate students cannot make up more than 10% of the total class (6 spots). Their stats are also compared with all the applicants though, not just amongst themselves. I believe theyre compared amongst themselves if more than 6 applicants make the top 60.

Im not sure if that makes sense but the nursing program explains it much better in the BSN info packet LOL

I thought they were going to use healthcare experience starting Fall 2023, not Spring 2023.

Yea you’re right, the healthcare experience portion starts fall 2023. This application cycle did not have any of the changes that theyre making for the next cycles (such as GPA, TEAS, etc)

I totally agree with you guys so who has baccalaureate degree and appy for 6 spot, better not post stats and compare us because it mispresent our program is easy to get in with those low grade. We worked really hard you know and any nursing program in bay area is hard to get in. So please don't give false hope for future applicants!!

Has anyone heard if they were placed on the wait-list? I know everyone worked really hard to get in. It is a competitive program for good reason.

Again, the schools post the requirements to gain entry into the programs. There WILL be students who gain entry who aren’t going to have 4.0 GPAs/90 + TEAS. Those students, as well as myself, worked really hard/got turned down from many other schools regardless of having a prior degree/other areas of priority. Perfect grades does not equate to effort. I also want to point out that "those low grades" are literally all A's and a couple B's, which is wild to say to someone. Instead of debating how I was able to get a spot and shaming me with my stats, why not congratulate students who made it? Just a reminder that we should be kind to everyone regardless if you think they deserve their spot or not because their stats aren’t close to yours or not. Nursing schools are extremely competitive, and many students, like myself with my "low grades," have to apply again, and again, and again. I wanted to give hope to future nursing students who had stats like mine, who from other students like you, were told “they’d never make it.” So, congratulations to everyone who made it, those who are still waiting to hear back their good news, and those reading this. Never give up hope!

wooh got in! would love to hear about any fb groups that anyone's got going for the cohort. proud of everybody who got in! looking forward to meeting y'all

No, not that I've seen but I think it would be super helpful

Hello everyone! My name is Noah Villaruz and I am currently a semester 3 nursing student at SJSU going into my fourth semester! I have reached out to every new semester after mine in hopes to ease the confusion of nursing school and to help ease any anxiety. Hopefully I can do the same for y'all!

A facebook group is a great way to start off with and communicating getting the cohort together, I would love to help you guys set stuff up, answer any questions and provide any advice anywhere requested. Please feel free to reach out to anyone from the program, most people love to help out and answer questions!

Feel free to ask me questions on this board, or when you guys set up social media I can get in contact through there!
