Sitting for boards(background check question)....

Published

Hi everyone...I am posting this here instead of the general board, since each state is different. My question is about a misdemeanor I have on my record. I am not sure what class it is, but it is a theft by check from a few years ago. I want to know if anyone here had problems sitting for boards if they had a misdemeanor on their record? Or does anyone know if that is held against you here in Texas? I am in the process of contacting the BON...I am waiting for my fingerprint card kit, so I can send those off with my other information. I am hoping I will know if I am clear before my classes start. It's just that I know the wait is long, and I have no idea what the outcome is going to be. I would like an idea of whether or not I have a chance. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance:)

It can take a few months to a couple of years for the BNE to clear you, according to their website. Usually if it is not a violent offense, or if it is a one time offense from a few years ago, they clear you. Best of luck.

That gives me a little bit of relief. Thank you ma'am:)
