Single mom tips upon entering nursing school?

Published

Will be applying to the nursing program in a few days. A man I was with for five years and share a two year old with beat me senseless last week and I haven't heard from him since.

I'm young and struggle a lot, but have made straight A's. I believe I will get in the nursing program, but what are some tips I should take into consideration being a single parent?

I'm so sorry. I hope you get accepted. As far as single parenting goes, I don't start school until January for prerequisites. Since I've joined this website I've seen alot of threads on the subject, new and old. Try searching in the search bar. But hopefully some other mothers will comment on this post. Good luck. And again, im sorry the guy did you like that? Are you ok? They have therapy programs for situations like that. Not being nosy, being helpful so your mentally prepared for school.

I am so sorry that you are dealing with this.

I have good fried who went through a situation recently. The points I made are not to get in your life but for YOU to get things in order.

Did you report?

Do you have records in hand?

Did you get a restraining order?

Do you have legal and physical custody of the 2 yo?

Do you have a strong support system?

Do you have GOOD reliable childcare?

Do you have backup childcare?

So you have money or ability to get funds for school?

I only put this out bc you need to get your legal stuff to protect yourself and your child.

He may come back and if you don't have your legal affairs in order you may be FORCED legally to allow him access to the child.

Thank you for the kind words. He has always had a short fuse, just never laid his hands on me. Cops were called and I have filed a restraining order. Luckily, I'm ok and just ready to take on nursing school full force! :) From one parent to another I wish you much luck and again, thanks for commenting.

Thank you! I'm in the process of arranging child care and I'm so happy to be able to say that I've filed a restraining order against that animal. I'm so anxious and nervous about how I will have time to study and etc. with the first semester and all. I pray God will guide us through these rough times. Thank you so much, both of you.

Your welcome. Everything I've seen says organization is key. I've downloaded a few study apps on my phone. I asked for a audio recorder for Christmas so I can listen to lectures while cleaning, driving, etc. I'm not an auditory learner but every little bit will count since I'll be so busy.

If you search my threads you can find the name of reccomended recorders. I'm on a phone so I don't know how to link it to this post.
