Just sent in my applications for Simmons College, Northeastern, and MGH direct-entry nursing programs! I was wondering if anyone who is currently a student, also applying, or a graduate has any insight to offer.
A little about me:
I have a 3.77 overall GPA. I still have the prerequisites A&P I & II and Life Span development courses to complete, and have A's in my completed pre-requisites. I am on an emergency squad where I take patient vitals and assist in patient care. I volunteered at a hospital and shadowed a Physician Assistant. I am a Teaching Assistant at my college for Biology and Microbiology. My GRE scores are about average: 152 verbal , 151 quantitative, and 4 on writing. I live in and am from New York, and love the Boston area. I've applied to only Boston schools!
I'm waiting to hear back from Northeastern too and Im so nervous. I spoke to a graduate assistant on February 6th and se said they were calling within the next week... I'm hoping it's all weather related!!
I got a call from Northeastern this morning around 10:30 for an interview! >>
Congratulations, Lena! Can I ask what track you applied to? The only other poster (I know of) who was called for an interview had chosen adult acute care.
Status on Simmons app page just changed to "Decision Mailed"! Anyone else? Wish they would attach the correspondence somewhere on the site. Still excited though! The wait was KILLING me.
I've never heard of College Factual, but they seem to use much stronger assessment criteria than USNWR; yet the latter gets all the attention. USNews says they rely 'solely' on faculty opinions to rank grad nursing programs (talk about subjective!). College Factual uses outcome data on multiple measures. So good going, Simmons!
I also just got my acceptance in the mail from Simmons! It is my first choice, so unless Regis and NE pour wheelbarrows full of money on me (unlikely), I'll be attending Simmons in the fall. So--relieved and happy! I hope the rest of you hear soon also. The wait is so hard!
