There seems to be no standard for normal lab ranges from book to book, hospital to hospital, except for INR, as far as I can tell. So my question is this: which resource do I use to study for the NCLEX? I've been using my lab textbook from school, but that differs from the ranges in my NCLEX study books. Also, do I need to memorize the differences in ranges for men and women? Seems silly since the tests questions typically say "the patient/client." This is probably a silly question, but I'd rather ask it now! Thanks.

I think you just need to know a basic knowledge and understanding of multiply diseases and just go by one author Because it is mostly prioritizing questions most of all my studying came from the Ati book

I was told to pick a reference such as Saunder's, Kaplan, Hurst, etc and go with the numbers listed there. I was also told that when it came to the NCLEX if the answer has to do with a lab valve then the answer should be obvious since they will choose values that are outside of any 'normal' ranges. I'm taking the NCLEX next week so I can't speak from experience but that is the advice that I received.
