Should new CRNA students work?!?

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hello everyone! I am a new CRNA student who is starting school at Rush University in Chicago in May 2014. I am currently working in Ohio in an ICU until we move in April (my boyfriend has a travel nursing job). When I get there in April, I was wondering if I should get a travel RN position, staff position, or just serve at a restaurant. I am nervous of being overwhelmed in a new city with school and a job, but would really like to save money. I will be taking out loans...any advise would be appreciated!!

It's usually not advised. Ask about your specific program to get the best answer. Every school is different but the 2 classmates that worked in my program quit after clinicals started full time.

I forgot to meantion that my classes will be online until August, so the work load will be light until August, after which I would not work

I worked a couple shifts here and there during my first 2 semesters. Right now, It's kinda impossible. So at first you maybe able to, but later in the program you may not want to, not only because you'll be tired. But also because you may not have time.
