Should I work part time and full time in college for my adn?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi .. I'm a hs senior and was wondering if it would be a good idea for me to work part time as a cna after graduation in June 15' while I'm in college full time for a nursing major to get my associates degree ..

I highly recommend you to focus on doing really well on your prereqs, don't rush it by trying to take multiple science heavy courses at the same time. If you can mix the easier GE courses with the more rigorous science courses. This will take 1-2 years. the adn program is about 2 years.

you can work as a CNA if you want for the experience. You don't have to though. You can also check the program you want to attend in the future if the program gives you points for being a CNA when it comes to applying. There will be requirements by the program so make sure you know exactly all the details. I don't know if your desired program saids you have to have CNA certification but make sure if it does or doesn't require it. I knew of a program that stated up front you had to have CNA certification in order to apply to the program.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you can't get through college without working. Going to college for any major is already stressful and full of distractions. Most colleges will want you to get a B or better in the nursing prerequisites so stay focused if you can.
