Should I try to get hospital scholarship?

Published

I have an interview with HCA next month for their scholarship program in Broward County, FL. Some people tell me not to sign because you will get stuck at a crappy position for 2 years. Other people tell me to sign because it is hard for a graduate to find a job right out of school. Any opinions?

Do it! I wouldn't give up the feeling of not having to worry about tuition for anything. It's nice to have everything paid for and know that you will have a job when you get done. Honestly,as a new nurse, you are probably going to get the less desirable positions anyway. The only thing that I would do is kind of research the hospital a bit and make sure it's not a bad place to work all together. You don't want to be stuck working at a hospital where you won't learn how to do things correctly and safely.

I did it with another hospital. I look at it this way. It is a guaranteed job out of school, I can get my experience and if I hate it, buh bye

Yep, worry about turning it down when you have it offered to you.

You can always repay the money if you decide you don't want to work there. The equivalent of a student loan with zero interest. What's not to like?

I work for an HCA hospital in DADE and I was torn about getting a scholarship with them and still is. I dont want to be just place anywhere because it's the only place they have for me. And for 2 years? I recieved my acceptance letter and not sure wether I want to share wuth HR
