Should I take statistics with level III nursing?

In the fall I will be taking 10.5 credits of nursing classes. I have lecture and lab Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 am - 2 pm. I will have 14 clinical days this semester. I will also have to work a 1-2 days per week. All of the former students I have talked to advised me not to take anything with my nursing classes. I don't want to screw myself if I do. However, it must be doable. Advisors tell students to take stats now especially if they plan on getting a bsn. Has anyone taken statistics along with nursing classes in their final 2 semesters? I know it would have been possible in Level 1 and 2 if only I would have taken it then.

Thanks :)

Are you already an A student? Because if you aren't already an A student in nursing I'd be careful. I got all B's in my first semester of RN school because I took 9 units of other classes concurrently and it was a struggle to get all A's in my 2nd semester doing the same thing.

Any other class I'd laugh it off, but stats is a time consuming class even if you love math like I do. Are you a math lover??

And how do you only have 14 clinical days? That's only half of what I have.

I am a math lover, previous math major here :) . I have taken calc 1-3, differential equations, number theory, discrete math etc.. Basically everything but stats. Level 1 I had a 91% in theory and a 94% in clinical and a 97% in physical assessment. Level 2 92% in theory and a 98% in clinical. So far I doing well but I hear horror stories about how hard level III is. I don't know why we have different amounts of clinical time, different state maybe? Level 1 we had 6 days, Level 2 we had 10 days. We also have lab which we are in each week plus 2 sim days.

you'll cruise through stats with all that background, and just have it done with and out of the way. you might even find it recreational and give your brain a little something different to do besides nursing, nursing, nursing . really! i did.

be sure it's a stats-for-clinical-majors, not stats-for-math-majors if you have the choice. then again, you're a math whiz, so it won't make any difference. have fun with it!

I took stats with my pre-reqs for BSN (I had almost all of the prerequisites anyways from college... Figured I might as well go for the BSN instead of RN)

Anyways... I took it with A&P 1 and 2 (both accelerated) and failed miserably. The second time around, I took it with chemistry and Intro to Nursing, and I BARELY passed. I'm not sure how hard your colleges stats class is, but ours is killer... I would NOT suggest that you take it during actual nursing classes, especially if you are working too... That is a lot to take on. If you're great at math, then go for it. I just found it difficult to wrap my head around.

Best of luck!

I decided I will just take it next summer. I have one year left of college until I am an RN and I don't want to set myself up for failure. I will take it next summer before I start my RN-BSN program. Thanks everyone for the input.
