Should I renew my license?

Published

Hi everyone! I have a question about renewing license. I took the NCLEX in Ohio and passed last November 2018, and I endorsed my license here in Maryland. So I am a nurse both in Ohio and Maryland. I am currently working here in MD. Ohio board of nursing just emailed me that I need to renew my Ohio license before October. My question is if I wont renew my Ohio license will it affect my Maryland RN license? Thanks!

What's difficult about Ca.? Just curious here in Ky.

In addition to the usual documentation process, you have to be fingerprinted. The prints get sent to the DOJ and the report gets sent to the BON. Then you wait. And wait. And wait. If you try calling them to check your progress, you will get the electronic run-around with various lengthy hold times and eventually an android will tell you to call back another day.

After a six month wait, I finally got hold of a live person. When I told him I'd been waiting six months, he asked me what my question was. My question was "IS IT NORMAL FOR THIS TO TAKE MORE THAN SIX MONTHS?" Someone else came on the line and told me they were still waiting for my fingerprint report from DOJ.

I contacted the postal annex where I had been fingerprinted to make sure the prints really had been sent in (keep the paperwork they give you with the reference number). Yes, they had been sent in, six months ago.

Call back to the BON a week later, identify myself and hear "Oh, you're the one that called the DOJ. Yes, your license is getting mailed to you this week."

And it did finally arrive. Nice touch, trying to blame the DOJ for their own ineptitude.
