Should I quit and get LPN

I'm in a tough situation, and I don't know what to do. Everyone is giving advice that benefits them -- I'm seriously contemplating getting a life coach.

I have my bachelors in another field and currently make 50k a year.. thats nothing in MA and I graduated college 11yrs ago!

anyway, I need to make a change and not sure what to do. I have a small child so I worry about how change can affect her.

anyway, I've been thinking about moving to FL to live with my parents for a year while I obtain my LPN license and then find work and hopefully work on getting my RN or BSN.

however major hurdle is that I will be quitting my job and have a small child with bills, including a car note. I have a very small savings of about 10k which will not last me.

the other option is to stay here in MA and complete my remaining prerequisites and then apply to an RN program and complete it on part time basis.

my undergrad gpa isn't competitive enough for an accelerated bsn - most want a gpa of 3.0 and I did not earn a 3.0, so that seems out of the questions.

I'm also in a relationship - so I'm scared of uprooting and ending the relationship but I also want to do whats best for me and my child in the long wrong.

any advice ? should I just suck it up and move and complete the LPN or focus on eventually getting into an RN/BSN program at some point.

How much does an LPN make per year where you are? Is it worth it financially to pay for school to make the salary of an LPN in your area compared to the 50K you make now?

A 3.0 GPA is not competitive for most nursing programs, accelerated or not. Why do you see nursing as the answer to your problem(s)?

I think you should ponder SourLemon's question about why you see nursing as the answer. Maybe you have some undisclosed reasons that you didn't share with us, and that's fine. But if you think nursing will be "easy" or a good way to get rich, you need to reconsider.

Next, do some research on LPN salaries in Florida. A quick search tells me that an LPN in Miami makes on average 41k/year, while in Pensacola the average is 36k/year. Those are averages, and you'll make less than that starting out. Staying in Mass might allow you to complete your RN and make a decent wage, but it seems like going to Florida where your parents are would allow you to have some help with childcare. Why not look into RN programs in Florida?

Finally, your GPA doesn't necessarily exclude you from an ABSN program. There's a thread (https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/non-nursing-degree-228957.html) all about low GPAs and what people did to improve their chances at getting into ABSNs. There are some lower-tier schools (not necessarily for-profit schools, either) that will accept a lower GPA, and there are a lot of schools that use a holistic approach and look at other factors besides GPA for their admissions criteria. Most students with a low GPA from their first degree make sure to really ace their prereqs, and you would be wise to do the same.
