I'm a first year nursing student in a 4 year BSN program. I was wondering if it would be beneficial for me to pursue a minor in psychology as well. My program allows time for 3 general elective courses. I've also taken AP psychology is high school. This would mean that I'd only need to take two extra classes to complete my minor which is totally manageable. But i'm still not completely sure if it would be worth it. Would a minor is psych be helpful to me?

Hey Tanya,
I was in the same situation as you and I decided to pursue a minor in psych. Alot of the information I learned in my other psych classes was helpful in nursing, but was incredibly interesting as well! If your schedule permits you and you are interested in psych, I say go for it! :)

Taking extra psych classes should be helpful for you when you take a psych nursing class. I have my psych minor and I'm still taking psychology classes.

The nice thing about psychology is that it can be applied to anything. And if you only need two classes and that's manageable for you, then why not go for it? The two classes I enjoyed were Abnormal Psych and Drugs and the Brain. I also enjoyed Advanced Stats for psychology because the TA was actually personable.
