Should I let the fear of failing nursing school...

Published

hold me back from achieving my goal and becoming a nurse?

I want to be a nurse so bad but I don't have the option to cut down to part time work in order to attend nursing school. Most school websites say you can only work minimal hours or none at all.

I have to work full time because I have expenses but I am afraid that I will not pass nursing school because of this. I fear that I will fail out and look like a fool.

What do you think?

Any advice?

There is nothing impossible about working full time and going to nursing school.

I think your point is very salient. Personally, I worked 32 hours per week as an LVN at an LTC facility while attending school full time. My ending 3.5 grade point average was respectable enough to end up on my school's honor roll at graduation time.

Some people cannot work full time during school, whereas many of us have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that we have the life skills to juggle both work and school successfully. You'll never know unless you make that first attempt. Face your fears, but do not allow them to lead you toward the path of inertia. Good luck to you!

Fear is healthy, believe it or not. But it shouldn't cripple you. I'm not going to repeat what everyone else has said, but will add that fear should drive you to succeed, not fail.
