I really want to get into OU Nursing School and you are suppose to have 30 credit hours of your pre-reqs done when you apply, but I will only have 29!!!!!! Ahhh, I can't believe its going to work out like that! What should I do? Go ahead and apply, or wait a whole year??!! Also, do they let you turn in the transcripts for that spring semester (seeing as how you apply in january)???

I know that what you have completed, and what you are enrolled in and will have completed by the time the program starts all count.

Yes! Apply. You don't have to have everything completed until the summer before you enter the program although they prefer for you to finish during the Spring before. Talk to an advisor and go to the application workshop that they will be offering. If you can't actually get there to talk to someone you can send a transcript to the advisor and they will do a check and tell you if or what you are missing. When you apply in January you will be judged on what you have already completed because you will send an official transcript and you will also send them proof that you are enrolled in the classes that you lack. I am starting the program this fall so I have been through it recently. If you have anymore ?'s you can also email me.

Oh- I believe it is much more than thirty hours that is required.

Did you take A&P separately? I will only have A&P I, Microbio, and Nutrition done by January (as far as sciences go), im worried that taking them together and only having half done is really going to hurt my chances of getting in. But I have several other prereqs done such as comp 1 & 2, gen psy, dev psy, hist, gov...

No, its 30 to be able to apply

Okay. I see where it says that you have to have 30 completed to apply but that is assuming that you can get all of them done by that fall when you start. I don't know if you are applying to Tulsa either. Talk to an advisor though. They may be really busy right now because they might have a lot to do to get all the incoming students ready, but they are always very helpful. I have never talked to anyone who wouldn't bend over back wards to answer my questions there.

I did take A+P separately. When you go to this link, there is an astrick next to the A+P requirement and at the bottom it says that it is recommended to take separately. http://nursing.ouhsc.edu/academic_programs/Undergraduate/Traditional/admission_requirements.html

oh yeah, ive been to their site and read all that, the community college that im going to doesnt even offer it separately. I was going to OCCC but I was like 4 classes away from being able to take Anatomy by itself (at OCCC you have to have like zoology and gen bio and some other stuff to be able to take it alone) Anyways, Im trying to get all my ducks in a row and start all the classes I need before January.

Good luck to you!

If you apply by the deadline, you can send in a verification of enrollment for the spring semester, and that will count as hours that you have "completed", when I applied to OU Tulsa, I just sent in transcripts each time I enrolled in new classes/finished others. Talk to the person that does transcript evaluations at OU if you have any questions, I would DEFINITELY go ahead and apply, I mean what would you lose?--$60 and some time doing paperwork, and what would you possibly gain?--Getting into nursing school, one more step toward your dream. Sometimes putting it in perspective is the only thing that helps me :):D

Where did you all do your prereqs?
