I have heard conflicting suggestions related to bringing a resume to the interview. What are your suggestions?

This is a good question...in my previous interviews I didn't, but now wonder if I should for my upcoming interview...

Yes you should. It just shows that you are serious, and more of a professional. Most of the hosptals around here did asked me to bring one to the interview.

It can't hurt -- assuming it fits neatly into some sort of professional-looking bag or briefcase. Simply ask each person you speak with, "Do you have a copy of my resume? I brought a few copies if you would like one." If you smile as you say that, what harm could it do? ... and it might just help.

Yes take a copy! I've heard others recommend to take one copy of each item in your application with you to the interview just in case. It shows professionalism and preparedness and may make you stand out above another applicant. I took a small portfolio with me with resume copies and other docs (examples of things I helped work on at the hospital) and that ate that up! I also took a list of questions for the interviewer and a pen handy because most tend to forget what questions they want to ask and they like for you to ask something. It was nice to organize the stuff I brought in a small portfolio or folder of some type - that way you're not shuffling through a bunch of papers. Good luck to you - I start in 2009!
