I keep finding myself going back and fourth im wondering should I become a lpn? I really want to be a nurse but really the waiting lists are ridiculous.... My situation isn't one where I can wait all of that time and go slowly. I am a Certified Medical Assistant right now, please give me some advice already LPNs/VNs..... Was it worth it for you? Do you regret not just becoming a RN 1st? Do you like being a LPN/VN? thank you.

I have been an LVN for 5 years. I am currently applying to bridge programs to finally get my RN. It's tough to get in since it's based on availability. I don't regret it because I have learned a lot as an LVN and I know for sure nursing is what I want to do but if you are able to go straight for RN then do it! Either way it's hard to get into a program. Whether it's for RN or bridge.
Hope that helps.

I am not an LVN yet as i am still a student. I too am a Medical.Assistant and have been for many years. I say if you can find a great RN program where the waiting list isnt a mile long go for it. However I think being an LVN is a great way to know if being in the nursing field is right for you.

Look at the employment picture in your area. Is there ample employment for LPNs or do you have to be an RN to expect a job? You can tell by looking at the major employment websites. I noted that in my area the employment website for the state employment department consistently lists about 4 times as many jobs for RNs as it lists for LVNs. That indicates what I have observed to be true, it is easier to get a job as an RN than as an LVN.
If jobs for LPNs are abundant, your next consideration might be the existence of LPN to RN bridge programs in your local nursing schools. The LPN license can assist you to be admitted to RN school in some situations.
Otherwise, it is better to pursue an RN education from the beginning, preferably a BSN. An RN with a BSN has a better employability picture right out of school. You will save time, effort, and money to obtain a BSN from the get go rather than taking the long way around if you can manage completing a BSN program.
