Should I apply to NOVA or ECPI?

Published

I'm a graduated student and debating weather I should should apply at Nova's medical campus in Springfield or ECPI in Mananas, does anyone have any information about either school and/or which one is better?

It depends on what you want to pursue.

At ECPI, you will be studying to become a LPN, while at NVCC, you'll be studying to become and ADN-RN. ECPI's LPN program in incredibly overpriced, but it is a great way to get your nursing education started quickly.

At NVCC, there are two programs. The traditional program requires you to take prerequisites before enrolling in the program. Once you finish, you will get an A.A.S. in Nursing and will qualify to sit for the NCLEX-RN. The second program, the 2+1 Momentum program, is designed for students who don't have prior college experience. Unlike other programs at NVCC, the classmates you start out with follow you throughout the program to graduation. At the end of the two year program, you receive two associate degrees: A.S. General Studies and A.S.S. in Nursing. You then transfer to George Mason University to finish you undergraduate study. You complete a year at GMU and finish off with a BSN. For both of the programs at NVCC, acceptance into the program is incredibly competitive.

ECPI is not the only local LPN program. If you research, you will be sure to find some that are half the price of ECPI.

Good luck!

I vote for NOVA. I think finding a job as an LPN may be difficult, and if NOVA is much less expensive that's another reason. It's a good program.

Best of luck!

Specializes in Peds and long term.

I have several friends who have completed the ECPI program for LPN , the cost was outrageous and it did not prepare them at all for the world of nursing I would check out other options !!!!

One of my closest friends is at the ECPI LPN program right now, and she says that she is having a great time. As demanding as the study is, she is doing very well. Although it is costing her an arm and a leg, she doesn't seem to care. She isn't rich, but she doesn't have the time (or grades) to enter into NVCC's ASN programs.

Thanks for the advise you guys, I'm going more towards Nova right now

I vot for NOVA, as with Krenee, graduated in may from there. personally I believe it isn't the school (or the initials that come after RN) that makes a good nurse, its the effort put forth by the individual. NOVA offers an excellent product and a super duper price! Think I paid around a ttl of $6200 + books and uniform and some supplies for the WHOLE program. Would be a bit more now as the credit $$ has gone up a bit, but its very cost effective. Best of luck
