Hello, My name is Orlando and Im currently a student at Broward college in the Associate in Science Degree of Nursing (2127) which is to become a registered nurse
I have completed a few of the prereqs but I have read stories about the nursing program at BC being super hard, lots of competition, and takes a long time to complete. On the other hand, I was considering applying to Keiser after finishing my prereqs but the program is too expensive like 35k-40k .. that's just too much for an associate in science degree
I already have big debts and don't want get into more debts anymore, what if i fail 1 or 2 classes, they kick me out and i'm stuck with big debt, on tops of that i think their credits are not transferable
I have read that LPN nurses make from $15 to $20 depending on experience, some are even making as much as a registered nurse and that's why I'm considering being a LPN nurse first.
I have read great things about the McFatter LPN program but I don't know what to do
do you guys think I should change my major at BC to A.A in nursing and graduate before applying to Mcfatter ?
or should I just abandon BC completely and apply to Mcfatter as soon as I can ?
I kinda feel I will be wasting my time if I continue at BC, when I could be done with the LPN program in 12 to 21 months and start working. Then if wanted to i could back to BC to get my RN license

Why not do both? Continue taking classes at BC and apply to Mcfatter just in case.
If you're considering applying to Mcfatter and can front the costs (testing drug testing etc) apply to mcfatter ASAP. The wait list (which I have been on since march) is growing by the day. Also, if you live in central Broward, look at Mcfatter's sister schools Sheridan and Atlantic tech. Continue working on your degree at BC. Those will be a few less classes to take if you decide to go the LPN->Rn route.
hello
how much are the costs of drug testing and the other exams, is that all i would have to pay from my pocket ?
thing is i want to work in the mornings and take the part time classes from 5 to 10, that's why im considering leaving BC
i sent u a pm

I would do BC... The program is only 18 months! And you won't have to go back to get your RN! I'd stick with BC... I was considering the same thing... And I'm glad I chose BC... I start next week!

Personally, I would stick with BC. I know that it takes a while but it is totally worth it. IF you become an RN, you could make up to $30/hr if you work at night, or even $25-27/hr during the day depending where you work.
LPN program you are there 5 days a week from 7-3 or 6-10.
As a former BC student, I can tell you that it is so worth it. Yes there are times that are difficult, but what other school isn't?
McFatter is a vocational school, so you do not need an AA in nursing or graduate with an associate's degree to go there.
and just a little tip for you: there are not many guys in the nursing program, so teachers love guys in their classes.
oh and another thing. LPN licensing test costs you exactly the same as RN licensing test.
I love the fact that BC nursing school (at least in south campus) you attend school only 3x per week.
PM me if you have any other types of questions!
