Hi there,
I am currently working on my prerequisites for a second degree in Nursing and I am in the process of getting all of my information and research in order to begin applying to nursing schools for Summer/Fall 2012. Since I already have my Bachelor's (in a non related field), I was only planning on applying to schools with Accelerated BSN programs as these seem to be the best fit for me and my situation. Now that application time is nearing, I am wondering if I should also be applying to traditional BSN programs or even ADN programs as a transfer student as a back up plan since the accelerated BSN programs seem to be very competitive. I have a 3.4 GPA from my previous Bachelor's degree and have received all A's in my prerequisite classes so far. At the moment, I plan on applying to three accelerated BSN programs in NYC (CUNY Hunter, NYU & SUNY Downstate).
Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
NM
hey there! I'm from NJ and also applying to accelerated programs. I have a 3.4 GPA and have a mixture of A's, B's and one C for the pre-reqs. I applied to NYU and I didn't get in. My advice to you is to apply to every nursing program. I just finished my application for UMDNJ and hope to get accepted there. You have excellent grades so I'm sure you'll get accepted for accelerated program. Good luck!
Hey Everyone! I too an applying to ABSN at NYU for Spring 2011. I'm really hoping to get in there as I've heard great things about the program and I live just a few short blocks away. Just an FYI, NYU does NOT accept students who already hold a bachelors degree into their regular BSN program. Someone asked that question at one of the open houses and the answer was a firm "no, you are only eligible for entrance into the accelerated program." Kinda sucks but I guess in some ways it is also fair to the students who may not have the experience that the 2nd major students do. Anyhow, I am looking into Pace as well and I am applying to BMCC although I know the lowest GPA accepted last semester was a 3.9 which I do not have, yikes. Anyway good luck to everyone!!! :)

Apply for both types of programs, why not? Applying to more than one rasies the odds in your favor I think.
