Shoreline Community College Winter Quarter 2016

Published

Hola!

Now that the Winter 2016 application is closed, it is waiting game. Good luck to you all. I really hope I get in.

So they have so many people that are next on the list to get in if the people that get accepted, don't take their spot, like if they also get accepted somewhere else and they chose that school instead. Or people get sick or move or have babies, that kind of thing. I don't know how many alternates they have but they notify you if you are an alternate. How many points do you have?

Ohh gotcha. Honestly I don't remember it well. Maybe around mid 100s.

Letters went out Monday, so we should be hearing today!

Looks like I'm going to spend the day obsessively refreshing this page and checking my mailbox. I'm really curious to see what the point cutoff was for this cohort. Good luck to everyone!!

@Alameda: yes for sure!! We are all so anxious to know!! [emoji29]

Is SCC everyone's first choice, or do you guys have any other applications pending? I kind of put all of my eggs in one basket here....Shoreline is my top choice/only choice.

It's my first choice. If I don't get in I plan on retaking one class and working more as a CNA. I'll just apply each quarter until I get in. It's an amazing program, and conveniently located for me. So I understand your anxiety! It would be so nice to just get in the first try.

I already got accepted to TCC. Because of the distance issue from my house to TCC, it can be really time consuming. So I went ahead and applied to Shoreline. So if I get accepted to Shoreline, I will go there and if not, I have TCC as my back up.

@cml999 - I completely agree, they have such an amazing program and there are definitely ways to increase the points, if necessary. It's also nice that they have multiple entries throughout the year, I feel like most other programs around here just have fall entry, other than SCC (and I think maybe Everett CC?)

@Tobeanurse95 - Congrats on your acceptance to TCC! That must be a huge relief to have a backup in place, just in case. Are you in the Shoreline area? I can't imagine a commute to Tacoma every day (ugh!) That is such a long drive even without traffic, but let's be real, when is there ever NOT any traffic??

@Alameda: Thank you! :) I live in Issaquah and it is roughly 45 min drive to Tacoma without traffic. It is a long drive! When I went to Shoreline to submit my application, the drive was shorter compared to Tacoma, so we are looking at 25-35 min drive, if no traffic. Yeah totally!

Ooh! I love Issaquah! Such a cute area. Well, either way, you can always record lectures & listen to them while you are driving so that you can still be sort of studying during that time. Or do you think you will move closer to whichever school you end up going to? I know, that is not always an option for some people, but that commute time is going to add up!

Yes you are right! Issaquah is a lovely area! That will be great! I was planning on moving since I do know a family who lives in 10 min away from TCC and for shoreline I would rather drive because I don't know anyone who lives around that area. So we will see what happens! All will happen for good!
