Shoreline cc volunteer fraud

So I applied to the program this last spring and was a first alernate but ended up missing out by 1 spot. That was fine, I knew where I needed to improve my gpa so I registered for the class this summer. One of the people the I am in class with now says they have a friend that was admitted into the program in the spring. The thing that has me really mad is that they tell me that this person lied on thier application and handed in a fraudulent volunteer verification form. For those of you who are not familiar with this form it just has to be signed and sent in in a sealed envelope. Im not sure what is more rediculous, the fact that I missed out over this or that the school could possibly have a "verification" form that does actually verify a thing. True they could be just feeding me a line but I still feel like I need to get down to the bottom of this. Does anyone know what the story is here or had a similar experience? I don't know who to talk to about this matter but I am going to find someone.

I don't think this is what you want to hear, but if it was me, I would probably drop it. This is probably not the first, or last time, this person will be dishonest, and eventually it will catch up with them in some way.

If the spots in your program are awarded based on GPA, this "cheater" didn't take your spot, and it didn't really affect you. Unless there is more to the selection process??

And I have been there, I dealt with cheaters last semester, and it drove me crazy for weeks. I finally talked to an instructor I trusted implicitly, and they said they would take care of it. Did they? Possibly, but I don't think anything really ever came of it.

So now I figure I will worry about me, and let the cheaters hang themselves at will, because one way or another, it will come back to get them!

I would leave it alone. You don't know if this is in fact true. Don't create any headaches for yourself. What if it turns out that this isn't the case, or you cannot prove it and end up looking like a trouble maker. How does that make you look in the school's eyes? Be careful about hearsay and things you have not witnessed yourself or cannot prove. Also, you can't be sure you were next in line for selection if this person had not been selected. Just focus on you and what you can do to make yourself a stronger candidate.

I agree with the previous posters that there is absolutely nothing to be gained and whole lot to be lost if you pursue this.

Your first instinct to improve your qualifications when you were not admitted was the correct one.

Always focus on what you can control. Don't waste your time, effort or energy on things you have no ability to change.

And never base your approach on questioning the qualifications of others, since you can not verify the truth of what you've been told. It will make you look petty, bitter and small.

Just for the other people on the thread, SCC does have a multi faceted application process with voulenteer time, previous work experience, GPA, among others as points for admission. They are also really straight forward with their students, so i would not doubt for a minute that they told the OP precisely where she was on the alternate list.

The above posters are unfortunately correct that without any way to prove it, you are stuck. Maybe you could write an anonymous letter as a member of the pre-nursing community there about fradulent applications amongst your peers. It might make you feel pro-active without getting yourself into a pickle.
