Hi all,
I really need some advice here. I am starting a new position in the ER next week and just found out they don't allow Crocs as foot wear. I don't own anything else... I'm considering a pair of Danskos but I've never worn them and I don't want to throw away $120. Running shoes or Clogs?
I think my current obsession with this issue is a front for my underlying anxiety about my start date but that's just how I roll.....
:)
I absolutely love my Danskos (I now have 3 pair). I have a very hard time finding shoes that don't hurt my feet. These are the only shoes I've found that I can do a 12 hour shift in without pain. As much as I love my Crocs, I can only do 5-6 hours in them before my feet hurt. And I get mine from Zappos because it's free shipping and I get them the next day. I like instant gratification.
Another Dansko fanatic. I have a great URL for you: http://www.footprints.com -- I've bought a couple of pairs of their Danskos for much less than $100!!
I bought some Danskos and wore them a few times, but didn't like them; I favored my Quarks and my Klogs. Then I started to develop a weird pain in my left foot, and I switch to my Danskos ... voila, pain was gone, feet felt MUCH better. I'm a total Dansko junkie now. I can work four 12's in a row without so much as a twinge of pain in my feet.
i too just started in the er and after the first day my legs and feet were killing me. Went to the shoe store and bought a pair of merrell slip ons, they're light, leather so they're easily cleaned, and my feet have not hurt since even with 12 hour shifts. Come to find that alot of the nurses where i work swear by these. they cost about $75 dollars but they're worth every penny. Hope this helps
I am croc obsessed and would have nightmares of giving them up (i feel your pain). I tried other types, nursemates and danskos, but the bottoms of my feet hurt so bad after half the shift. I can highly recommend Borns. Very shock absorbent (like the dansko), but with plush padding. I have not tried Borns yet for nursing, but I have a couple pairs I used to walk ALL day in as a tourist and love how they feel even at the end of the day. Zappos is a great place to get shoes! http://www.zappos.com/n/br/b/342/Born.html

I recently bought Danskos at the advice of my co-workers. They are tough to break in but I haven't had back pain since I started wearing them! Plus, I am short, so they make me taller!
