I wear New Balance 926. They have an adequate counter, but the best think is that they're extra depth and can accommodate my insoles. They also have a rigid mid-foot and a rocker front so that rests my foot. I just think "forward" and they do they work.
I'm scared of the MBTs which have a rocker in the front AND the back with a rigid mid-foot. They concern me since the negative heel can lead to Achilles over-stretch injuries.
Consider on line shopping at Zappos. They have all sorts of sneakers and shoes for problem feet that require orthotics. When you do a close up of the shoe, there is a written description that will say something like 'removable insoles', and those sorts can accomodate orthotics. I wear New Balance most of the time, but am considering other brands.

I have seen some threads mention people who have custom orthotics but not one that focused on it. I have worn them forever and cannot go without them. That being said, I usually wear hiking/outdoor type shoes and I think these are not acceptable. Any suggestions from anyone who wears orthotics? They have to have a back, so none of the clogs are doable, and most of the time you need a tie shoe to maximize the orthotics. Probably can do NB or something like that but usually have to try millions on to get one that feels good so ideas are appreciated. Thank you!!!
