Yes, I have found out that new office I am at has a slew of new managers in place. Well, 2 exact, and 2 on stress leave. I finally have had a chance to interact with some of my new nursing colleagues and I feel very naive about my office.
Today I spoke with a nurse who works in a completely different area, or city. The office assigned a pateint who lives less than 1/4 mile from my home to her. Making her drive 20 miles.. Makes no sense, especially since I work in the area where I live. The patient is on respite in the nursing home around the corner from my home. Was admitted there and plans on staying there.
Our manager was alerted as I thought this was just bizarre.... This is what I was told. This patient lives in the service are of Nancy nurse. It makes sense that she follows him in the event he goes back home. I repeated patient declining fast, more than likely will not be home. Manager stated "I don't care if the pateint lives next door Noey. I want Nancy nurse to follow them as they came from HER area. I tried to explain the SNF where this guy is a facility I worked with very closely. Have a good re pour with and they have already seen me there, thinking I am the nurse. Manager stays firm. She then says.. Nancy has to see that patient every day this week they are there on respite.. ( that only to applies to General IN Pateint for our Calirfornia guidellines. ) I felt like ok.. I am battling with someone who is unarmed.
I called Nancy nurse an told her and she was telling me the new manager is mean, speaks poorly to her and makes the most bizarre decisions. ( this I concur is true ) I was also told this is the 25th clinical manager Nancy has had in 9 years..
I have no idea how in the hell I am suppose to report and seek guidacne from someone who has never worked hospice, nor knows the ins and outs.. My new colleagues are hating her, and I say that loosly.
I think I am just going to sit back and watch this one fall flat on her face. I told Nancy, being new, I can't say to much, but it's obvious this is too much for our manager. I can only hope she either gets a quick education on what field she is in or steps aside. OMG. I have a headache. I guess it's just a ventarama. But my goodness, how bad was this?
I advised the poor Nancy to take her concerns... all of them to the big boss.. and encourage her colleagues to do the same. It's the only way some admins know their middle management is well.. not working in the company's best interest.

if new supervisor isn't going to listen to you, all you can do is sit back and watch the sparks fly with this train wreck.
Its happening. I suppose supervisor #25 will be gone by summer. I was a team manager for a very short time. The dominant authoritative approach doesnt' work. You'd be amazed how much your staff will do for you if you listen and support them and guide them where needed.
This one reminds me of a dictator who is well, all wrong and should be embarassed about what she thinks is right. ( you must see that patient every day if they are on respite. ) Its hysterical.
Yesterday I got a call from this manager ( I'd like to make it one day without having to talk to her please!!)
Her issue? I got a call in from a family member the day before and they texted it out to me via phone. ( the only way this office can communicate vs. calling as well ) The pagers they provide do NOT work.
I was in an area where phone service is sketchy at best. Near an airport all day long.
My manager told me the family called in upset I didn't call them back. I explained I never got the text. She said " I know we sent it as I checked". I admitted you are probably right but because of the area I was in all day... phone service comes and goes. It's always like that.
SHe said "Well Noey 67, when I am in an area like that my phone will give me my messages as soon as I come out, I assume your phone is the same? " I told her yes and no. there have been times that I sent messages to my own spouse and he hasn't gotten them.
I am feeling harassed at this point. Should I keep a little running log of this??

Keep a running log. It sounds like you need to look for a new employer. I use a cell phone and warn people that I have found cell phone service to be unreliable, because it is true. I have received messages way more than 24 hours after they were sent and have not received messages or call info at all. Of course, it helps if the person on the other end actually did call and is not just giving you a line.
