Not that I'm counting down or anything! My last day of work will be July 28th, with a few weeks off to rest before I start at TWU in August! I can wait.
Anyone else counting down the days?
Jennie
Ok so things are continuing to get so bad with patient ratios that I just can't take it any more! I am just finishing out the schedule which ends in 2 weeks. I was going to work till August, but no more! Is everyone else dealing with the same thing. Seems like we either don't have enough census or are way overloaded! Thank God for my wonderful supportive spouse who supports me always! You rock D! Good luck to everyone else finishing up those last shifts!

:Melody: Big Dave, welcome to Charlotte, NC! I have a buddy that will be starting with you this fall. His name is ***** and he works with me at WFUBMC MICU.

Thanks, the name got scratched, but I'm sure to meet up with him. When I interviewed, there were 3 of us old guys and 10 much younger girls. Man, how I felt like a dinosaur!
Still househunting...complicated by my family wanting us to live around them (old and getting scary neighborhood).
To all the folks doing those last shifts: Hang in there. My last month of ICU nursing felt as long as my first year!
Hey Guys! I only have 72 more hours of work left (7 more shifts)! My very last shift ends at 8 a.m. Friday, July 15th. I planned on working until the end of July but between Chemistry, working nights, and not seeing my family due to me going all the time.. I thought I'd give myself another 2 weeks. I can't believe how soon it crept up on me since I turned my notice in 4 weeks ago. It's kind of sad to leave something I've become so familiar with and all the great people I work with.. but I can not WAIT TO START SCHOOL! For all you going to Texas Wesleyan... see you in August!
I have nine more "dreaded and utterly depressing shifts left".... Why am I depressed, let me see, no more poo wiping, no more experienced (been doing the same job for 30yrs and hate their own life) nurses with chronically bad attitudes......
I can barely keep my shoes on from running so fast out of the unit everyday... I start the Raleigh program August 15th, my last poo day is July 29th, then to the beach for a week.... After that I will be placing my head firmly between my knees and kissing my _____ goodbye.....
Congrats to all, let the fun begin.......
Last shift is Aug 10. Orientation Aug 12 (ACLS) Hey GCShore, I'll be seeing you soon :) :) !!!
BigDave...Welcome to North Carolina! I think there's only one more mature gentleman at WFU this class with 19 younger ladies. You're only as old as you feel, eh???
Good luck to all this fall! I don't know about ya'll, but thinking about peds cases are already giving me the willies... (never done peds before, geesh!)

Charlotte's a really fun place to live. I assume you are going to UNCC. There are some nice townhouses in the university area, off of Mallard Creek. Between Prosperity/ Mallard Creek Church and Harris. They are in a development called Rossmore. It's about 5-10 minutes away from the university.
