Sheridan college RPN Ontario

Published

hey I will be starting RPN next month at Sheridan college, just wanted to get a better understanding of how the program is, so for current students and graduates what's the hardest course in first Semester, what was you GPA average as the cut off is 60%, is it manageable to balance part time work?, is the program really hard, as a lot of people say? and I would also love some tips that will help me get through my nursing journey.

Hello,

I am about to start my pre-grad with Sheridan. I started last year in January and have been working part time since last March. The program is definitely more work that I thought it would be, but if you dedicate the time you shouldn't have too much issue. If you wish to strive for higher grades as I did, you will have to manage your time very efficiently if you plan to accommodate your job, but it is attainable. First semester will have a math course that requires a 90% grade to pass, sounds daunting, but it's rather simple math; if you practice you will be okay. The second semester is the most difficult, this is where we were bombarded with assignment after assignment, after this you are mostly in the clear. If you are able to manage your external responsibilities, you will be fine.

Tips:

-As stated, manage your time efficiently, get ahead of assignments whenever you can

-It may be difficult given the nature of the online environment, but find a group of driven individuals to study with, this was a key to my success.

-Practice your skills repeatedly, your lab mid-terms/finals will be based on skills you learn throughout the program.

-Utilize online resources to enhance your learning. There is endless amounts of information on Youtube, use this to your advantage.

Cheers,

Andrew
