Ok so i just graduated and got my LVN license. I am looking to jump right into a bridge program so i can get my RN. A person i met told me about a program in Los Angeles that her daughter attends. The schools name is Shepherd University and i actually went to talk to an advisor there. The program costs about 40k (as it is a private school) and their passing rate is excellent (greater than %90 passing). But then again their program isnt very old... I was wondering if anyone has attended this school or has any knowledge of this program? thanks in advance..

I just checked out their website. I dont see thier program on the CAbrn which leads me to wonder thierof their accreditation. Have you spoken to anyone from their program?

The only Shepherd University that I am aware of is located in West Virginia. The location that you allegedly visited in the Los Angeles area is not appearing on the California Board of Registered Nursing's website as an approved nursing program. I'd ask them why.

After some more digging, I did find a Shepherd University in Los Angeles that claims to offer an LVN-to-RN bridge program. However, this school still does not appear on the California Board of Registered Nursing's website as an approved program of nursing.

I called them over the phone and the said that they offer an LVN-RN program. I asked them if they were accredited and the representative said yes. She would not quote me a price over the phone and states that their next cohort starts in August. I made an appointment to meet with them tomorrow. I will make sure to bring forth any information I gather to share with you all.

I talked to the representative of Shepherd University in Los Angeles, and she showed me the approval letter from CA BRN and I believe their nursing program is accredited. Only the BRN website does not update the school list yet. They said RN Program is accredited on May 19, 2010. So I looked for the minutes of BRN and Shepherd University, the name was on the minute and program was approved. I am working as LVN but haven't taken any prerequisites. Shepherd University doesnot have a waiting list, so I am thinking about applying...
I'd like to attend the school. When I met with the rep, she stated to me that their is NO financial aid. She said that they were accredited, but I have not seen it on the CaBRN. She also said to me that the program is $40,000. I'd just like to get it over with. Is there Any other info that u came up with?
Hi I believe they are accredited. I saw the approval letter from CA brn. So this is not an issue to me.
I am going to see the rep this wednesday and I will share more info with you guys.

I'm interested in this program also. Is it a new program? It's odd that nobody on this forum has mentioned the school before. I called today and am waiting for an advisor to call me back.
I believe I have more information better than you guys. Cause I visited and called several times.
Shepherd University RN Program they just approved last month, May.
I know there were several brn meetings on May 18~19. You can check out the dates on brn website.
I will see the counselor soon so bring more info here.
Guys, check the BRN Website. Shepherd University is on the approved rn school list. I went there last week and talked to rep and they were very nice and tried to help me. It was good impression!
