Sharp New Grad Residency October 2017

Published

Starting a thread for those of us who applied at Sharp for October 2017. I applied for ER at SMH and SGH. Good luck everyone!

I got the email too for Med-Surg and PCU. I assumed it means I'm not moving forward at all in the application process but I guess I could be wrong since she specified the units! Sorry fellow new grad...never been rejected so many times in my life haha

lol I'm in the same boat as well.

i also just received an email stating that i am no longer being considered for sharp memorial. darn :/ good luck to all who are still in the running..

Anybody just get an email from Sharp? I just got one that says its from Sharp Memorial Hospital for Med-surg and PCU and that I did not get it. However, I applied for Grossmont Oncology and Gastrointestinal PCUs. Did anyone else get this and know what it means? My status still says "under consideration." I called and left a message, but have not heard back from Sharp.

Did you apply to the Sharp Grossmont Oncology Progressive Care Unit/Telemetry 2E? That's the one I applied to, but I haven't received an e-mail and my status hasn't changed online. It still says under consideration (updated 6/29). I'm not even sure if that means I'm still being considered or if I was pushed out of the running a long time ago and my status just wasn't updated... lol

Yes, that's the one I applied to. This is super confusing, I have applied in the past to sharp before I got my license and I found out I didn't get it waaay after all the interviews were done and I knew they had already interviewed people for the departments I applied to. I think I found out by my status changing, not an email. It seems weird they're letting us know before they sent out interviews.

This is so frustrating. I don't take NCLEX until next week because my school lagged on sending our transcripts... So I'm thinking what happened to you when you applied before having your license is probably happening to me now... UGH! I wish they'd actually just update it like they're supposed to.

Got the email as well saying I am not moving on in the process. I applied to Sharp Coronado and and haven't heard anything at all from them. So maybe theres still a chance?

Hi- I just got a call from Chula Vista this morning. I am interviewing later this month. I also got a rejection letter from Sharp Memorial Hospital. The Chula Vista interview is divided in two parts; a panel interview and a simulation interview. The simulation interview ( if you passed the first interview)is based on patient centered care and communication.; no physical assessment or procedures.

You rotate through: Med Surg Ortho Unit; Med Oncology PCU and S.A.F.E. unit; PCU post cardiac surgery and step down; PCU Neuro stroke unit; one week with float pool nurse and training for the ED tele admit nurse role

I am not based in San Diego and I am bilingual. Good luck and I will keep you posted. Hope this help

P.S. Does any of you have any information about the panel interview?

Has anyone heard back from SGH for the ER? It sounds like SMH already sent out invites for ER interviews. For those of you who have called and asked questions- are you just calling HR at that particular hospital?

@nursecaity. I got a reply back, they sent me that email accidentally. It was the person from memorial and she said she would ask the person at Grossmont for any updates. So don't worry yet, they might not have contacted about Oncology yet.

On the site FAQ, it says there are two residency tracks, unit-based and rotation. Was the latter one even an option when we had to select two preferred sites?

Did your status change on your job profile? I haven't received an email saying no, but I also have not gotten a phone call yet :( I'm staying positive, though! :) Holy Shmoly, a simulation interview sounds crazy! Good luck!!! I'm sure you'll do great!
