I was reading another thread where someone gave some good advice about dealing with gross smells. Keep a small jar of Vicks with you to put around your nostrils. You can't smell anything, but Vicks! That will definitely help me! I was wondering if anyone else has any tricks to help us get through some of the "not so great" parts of the job.

to quote my 16 yo dd...." mom's THE sh*t".
and yes, that's a good thing.:chuckle
ya know, in hindsight, there's an awful lot of sh*t in my life and i'm the least anal person i know.
now just don't call me poopsy.:rotfl:
LOL I can honestly say I've never eaten sh*t, but I have worn urine, does that count?
Smells get to me too. I use that Vicks trick whenever I can, but if I don't have it with me, I put a dab of soap inside my nostrils.
What I'm always worried about is taking the smell with me. I can't stand thinking that I smell like "eau de colostomy" for the rest of the shift just by having been in the room for a period of time.

Anyone ever tried Carmex? Some nurses swear by Carmex over Vicks. Personally, it has never worked for me. I guess I believe the overpowering "aroma" of Vicks is what does the trick. However the thinking is that scents are actual chemicals in the air and Carmex can "catch" or "trap" those chemicals.
Me? I use what has worked for me and that is Vicks.
