Hi everyone,
Despite everyone on my floor warning me that you NICU nurses are rude and territorial :chair: I did an obs in the NICU. I think I'm in love. The nurses were great and the babies were cute/sad/hopeful all at the same time. I saw some babies with perm deficits. Got to see a circ. Also, got to see all the number of drips, etc. baby can be on at the same time.
I'm gonna go for it. I think it looks like a great place to work. I'm currently working as a Student Nurse Tech in Transitional Trauma. I'm going to find out about switching to NICU as soon as they'll allow it (I think I have to be in this position 6 months).
It's funny, I've felt drawn to NICU since I was a unit clerk 15 years ago. But, I've been trying to keep an open mind in terms of taking care of adults, but I just find adults so ho-hum.
I just hope they're is an opening when I grad in December.

I'm glad you enjoyed your experience in the NICU. I'm a newbie myself, its comming up on a year that i will be In my NICU and i love it sooo much. I really wish you the best of luck and encourage you to ask any questions you have about the Unit to us all on this site...(I promise you everyone here is very kind and helpful) as questions will give you a better idea of what goes on in the NICU and what you can expect.
Good luck!! Hope to hear from you soon!!!
