I was needing some input from all you school nurses. This is my first year, so I learn everyday. I was wanting more information about SHAC (school health advisory council). I know there has to be four meetings a year and 51% of those member have be non-school employed. What does your SHACs do? How do you run your meetings? Any input would help tremedously. I am a Texas School Nurse by the way. :) THANKS!!!!

This may be a state-by-state requirement. As far as I know, it is not required in Wisconsin.

Coordinated school health programs (CSHPs) provide an organizational framework for school health practice by combining health education, health promotion, disease prevention, and access to health services in an integrated, systemic manner. This project examined the effects of a regional 2-year training program to increase local school districts’ CSHP infrastructure as measured by the establishment of four structures essential to the CSHP model. These structures include a (a) school health advisory council, (b) school health coordinator, © school-based health teams, and (d) school board policy.
