Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Haven't seen a thread for this upcoming cohort. So please share your information so we could all learn about each other and answer each others questions :)

Deadline for CSUApply and NursCAS was Feb 1, 2018.

Week of March 19th: Group Interview Invitations

Week of March 27-April 3: Group Interviews

3rd and 4th week of April Final Admission Decisions

Graduated June 2016 with a Bachelor's in Health Science Administration and Management. Decent/Average stats and letters of recommendations for the program. 5 years of management experience in a variety of settings: retail, non-profit, and health. I have about 1 year of clinical experience, and 1 year of working in an assited living facility.

Looking forward to hearing more about the rest of the people applying for this cohort!

Congrats to everyone that got into this program! I, too, am on the waitlist. I think it is just one waitlist that is updated as applicants accept/deny their decision letters. I tried to get an update on my waitlist # but the nursing program just wrote back saying that if I get in, they will contact me. In other words, don't ask twice.

Woohoo! The wait(list)ing game is at least not a lonely one. When I had initially emailed to ask my waitlist number, I explained that I am in a teaching position and I wouldn't necessarily be able to drop everything and leave at the beginning of next semester at a moments notice. They said I could absolutely check back and see if there had been any change. So I emailed again this week and I got the same response as you: "we will contact you". It was a different sign off so perhaps someone else in the Nursing dept office game me wrong info initially. Oh well. I'm probably going to keep bugging them anyway :)
Does anyone know if they separated the waitlists based on our specialty area, or if it is one waitlist for everyone?

Hi sage18,

I do not believe they do as for those admitted there is not a specific quota for each concentration.

So there is probably one waitlist for everyone.

I guess we will have to rely on people posting here if they get off of the waitlist. I still think we should be able to check in, maybe once a week to see if there has been any movement. As of now, it sounds like they have not pulled anyone from the waitlist. I am still #5, and that was after the one response saying a friend had been accepted off of the waitlist.

I have moved up to #2 so the waitlist is moving!

Hello, sage18

I am looking to apply to SFSU for next fall and wanted to ask a quick question: did you take the entire GRE or just the Analytical Writing section?

Thank you in advance for any reply, I hope everything worked out for you this year.

For the Fall 2018 cohort application, all we needed was the analytical writing portion of the GRE for the app. However, I completed the entire GRE test for practice.

Thanks for the reply! I think the requirements are the same for Fall '19. I was just wondering because I did not see any minimum scores posted.

Thanks again, good luck on this semester.

Shoot for over 4.0 on the written portion.

Hi chemkid37, I would advise that you take the entire exam. You're paying for the whole thing, why not? Also, if you decide to apply to any other schools, you may need it. You have to get at least a 4.0 on the writing. Hope this helps!

Thank you, I'll give it my best

That's true, but SFSU is practically the only school I can get into. They don't have an "expiration date" on prereqs so my undergrad grades would still count. All but 3 of my classes are older than 5 years, so it kind of eliminates me from other schools.

Thank you for the reply!
