sf bay area transportation advise

i am a new grad rn from nh coming out to interview at lucile packard for a nicu position. i don't have much money and i'm even scraping to find enough to fly out there but i really want this job! since i can't afford a hotel, i think i'm going to buy a ticket to fly out on may 2, sleep over the airport, interview on the 3rd or 4th, (hopefully find a place to stay on the 3rd overnight) and fly back out to nh on the 4th in the evening.

so i was hoping for some advise for the cheapest way to get to my interview and then leave after....is there public transportation that i can take from the airport to the hospital for my interview?

not sure if this helps, but a big reason i'm so tight for money is because i was in ghana last summer working with midwives and doing nursing research on decreasing infant mortality and i'm currently doing a 40 hr/week internship in a level 3 nicu that is unpaid plus i am a full time nursing student finishing up my senior year...i'm going to be in thailand for the month of june this summer to present my research at a global health conference and volunteer at a shelter for single pregnant women who need health care/safe living etc. i'm a non smoker and will come with a backpack of clothing and that's it.

i would really appreciate any advice that you may have. thanks :-)

We have BART which is our version of the subways of New York. I don't know how far they travel but you can check them out on there website. Bart.gov... Lucile Packard is wichin the Stanford Unveristy side (Palo Alto area) so that's way off on the other side of where I live. But you may want to look into the school there too if BART possibly has a shuttle going that way for students and such. (just an idea) GOOD LUCK to you and hope you knock there socks off on the interview. :nuke:

BART stops at the Millbrae exit, across from the airport. Does not go further, but then there is the train that can be reached from there that will go down towards Stanford.

The Millbrae stop is just across the freeway from SFO and you can take the route to there and then meet your connection from there. That would be the cheapest route for you.

You may want to see if you can interview over the phone, instead of having to fly out there and go through all that.
