Hello everyone, I'm currently sprucing up my resume. I've only been a registered nurse for 1 year, and I have been working in one psychiatric hospital for the entire time.
I started out PRN and worked various units, doing various things
Then I was offered a full time position on a core unit as a float nurse (so when census was low on this unit, I would float elsewhere) and did various things there as well..
THEN I was promoted to charge nurse of core unit, and have done it all. Since then, I have charged a few other units when other charge nurses took a vacation, the DON of the geriatric unit would request me to charge her unit when her nurse was out, and I have charged a dual diagnosis unit when pulling overtime hours.
So my question is, would it be appropriate to bullet the following:
- PRN Registered Nurse February 2011-May 2011
(will list various speciality units I worked on, and skills I achieved)
- Core Adolescent/Child RN - Float May 2011-August 2011
(will list the skills I achieved, the duties I was responsible for, and how I floated to other units as needed and assisted there as well)
- Charge Nurse, RN of Adolecent/Child August 2011-Present
(will list my responsibilties)
Would it be appropriate to list that I was offered the position to become a full time employee? Would it be appropriate to list that I was promoted, or would just the new bullet of Charge Nurse alone be obvious?
Would it be appropriate to list under the Charge Nurse bullet that I have since experienced charge nurse responsibilities on other units when requested?
I hope this makes sense and doesn't sound confusing, thank you in advance for any assistance :)

I would list it as
ABC Hospital City St, February 2011-present
Charge RN - Adolesecent Unit August 2011-present
list skills - ex. float as charge to other units XYZ
Staff RN - Adolescent Unit May 2011- August 2011
list skills
Staff Nurse - Various Units, Feburary 2011-May 2011
I would not list if it was PRN, part-time or full time, only if they ask. I know some places actually want to know how many hours you worked.
I would list it like this to show longevity with your job, and always list the most current job titile first.
