Sergical Tech

i am thinking of going to school for a certified surgical technician. the school i'm planning to attend is 'western career college', (the only one i found in my area), except for cc that require way too many pre-quisite. does anyone here attend that school? i would love to get any input, since the program is very expensive. ($33,000 for certificate or $41,000 for ass). i live in san jose area, ca .

anything will be appreciated.

Hey, I have a friend who's currently in that program in that particular school and he just loves it!!!...Also, I'm attending that school also and I have to say that the program director for that particular program is awesome....I had him for another classes and he is a great instructor....Good luck

I personally don't think it's a good idea. $30,000+? You could go to Harvard for a year for that. If you are interested in working in the OR go to your local community college and get your RN. In California community colleges cost what? $20 a unit? That's cheap as chips. I don't think there is anywhere in the country more affordable than California community colleges. And if you are low income you can get the BOG fee waiver!

I'm speaking from experience here. I went to one of those allied health schools in No CA and it was a mistake. Realize that they are turning out TONS of graduates every few months. The No Cal market is really saturated.

At a community college you can get your ADN for around $3500 and it will be much more portable than the surg tech training.

I agree... Surgical Tech is not a good job for lack of career longevity. Can you live your whole life and retire on a surgical tech salary?
