I recently applied for Sentara mainly because of the short wait time, and also that I live by the beach (Ocean Fron Va Beach) and cannot afford to go all the way to Portsmouth everyday. Is Sentara as good of a program that people say? And also, how long is the wait time to get in to TCC RN program? I have to still take 2 classes but am going to still apply early. Reading through the packet I discovered that I can apply for the May deadline if I am going to be compleating classes during spring semester, which I will be. I heard that the wait is a 2 year period and am so nervous about that. And also, how long does it take to hear something back from Sentara?

I do not know much about waiting period of the schools you named. When I first started going to community college (Thomas Nelson), I planned to apply for their program and at that time, I was told that the prerequisites you completed, your GPA and your score of the entrance exam will determine if you get in. As I learnt more about the nursing programs in this area, I ended up going to ODU's nursing program. It is a great program and I am very glad about my choice. ODU nursing program admission is mainly based on the GPA.

I was going to go thru TCC but then chose Sentara because I got in much faster. I sent in my application and if you have your pre-reqs done - you shouldnt have much of a wait. I *think* I heard back within the next cycle. Look at their website - lots of great info there.
I begin there on Jan 5 (one week!!) And Sentara has been noted to be one of the best so I am sooooooo glad I made the choice that I did. IF your pre-reqs (that Sentara requires) are done and you applied now, I bet you'd get in, in Fall.
I think overall - getting your pre-reqs done is the major thing no matter where you go. TCC and Sentara have diff. requirements so make sure you choose wisely.
Good luck!

I heard that the palm is required for Sentara nursing program but the textbooks come in electronic version, which is overall more money-saving. :)
I am sure you are very exciting about starting school. Good luck!
My Fundamentals book is NOT electronic but I think the Psych was but I didn't get it electronic.
I'm so excited, I can't stand it. Today, the blackboard came up for us so we can see our schedule and the assignments due. I'm "trying" not to get ahead of myself and relish this last week with my family but I'm antsy. Hope I continue with this enthusiasm .... LOL
By the way - ODU was going to be my choice if I went the 4 yr route. I'm not sure I want to stay out here in VA much longer - I love the weather but my entire family is from WI and I miss them horribly.

That's great! I am sure it's going to be a great semester for you! I hate to say it but I feel a little stressed out about another semester...

I went today for the mandatory nursing meeting at TCC. I took off work for it. When I got there they told me they moved it to wednesdays. I feel like TCC's nursing program is unorganized somewhat. I have all of my prereqs done for the program and can apply next month for LPN to RN. Im in a dilemma though...I didnt really like TCC's nursing campus, the people were rude, the classrooms didnt look appealing. Im debating on going to Sentara. However, Sentara only has an LPN to BSN program which in the long run is going to be like 3 years longer and way more prereqs. My fiance is going away to grad school and my plan was to go back to school after i graduated with my RN to get my BSN where he is. Does anyone have any information, former experiences through TCC? I really just want to get my RN out of the way and go away with my fiance and get my BSN so we're not apart for like 4 years ya know? I really didnt like TCC nursing program though!
