  1. I applied to the LPN-RN program at TCC in late November. I still havent heard anything! I have been told the LPN's start with the traditional RN students in May and will be 18 months long? I am still unsure of this...can anyone give me any information about when I should be hearing back from them and any info on the LPN to RN option?

  3. hey swtstephy you dont have to attend the information session. if you go to tcc.edu and search nursing the main site will come up and you can watch an informational video online and you have to answer the questions after. The questions are so they know you watched the video...just another option instead of attending the meeting. hope this helps!
  4. thanks for the advice! I start in a week...still nervous and feeling aprehensive. and like you said you were...im not crazy about this job so hopefully it grows on me. i wanted to be really excited for my first nursing job but i just have these thoughts in my head that im not going to get comfortable quick enough with this. oo well i took it for the experience which im going to get. so we'll see how it goes and ill keep posting on here with updates :)
  5. I am a newly licensed LPN. I got hired yesterday for my first nursing job at a city jail. I never really preferred jail nursing in clinicals through school and could never really see myself doing it. I have looked and looked for months for my first nursing job and this was the only job opportunity that came up. I toured the jail yesterday and became overwhelmed with the inmates yelling things at me and the jail wasnt that clean. (im used to the hospital setting) I have always preferred Emergency/trauma nursing or working with the babies. Everyone is telling me you have to start somewhere and to just give it a try. Im feeling kind of nervous and unsure. Can anyone give me any advice or experiences they have had working in a jail? I feel that this may help me get experience and will look good on my resume rather than restraunt jobs for future job openings that i really want.

  7. I'm applying to TCCs program next month. Im still in my last 2 prereqs. My question is how does that math diagnostic test work? I still have to take it. Do you have to take it before you apply? what happens if you dont get a 90? i know you have to take a math class but does that have to be completed before you apply as well?
  8. ok soo...im trying to apply to TCCs lpn to rn program next month. I am currently finishing up prereqs with ap142 and bi0150. Im not doing as well in 142 as id like. Im pretty sure im going to end up with a B in micro and a C in 142. My grades thus far are: eng111 B, eng 112 C, orientation to healthcare A, intro to psych A, bio141 B, child psych A...Has anyone been accepted the first try with a C in 142? Also i have a C in eng 112...im worried!

  10. Does Sentara have just an LPN to RN program without a Bachelors that is quicker? I visited TCC's nursing program today and wasn't really into it. I'm debating on going to Sentara. However, my fiance is going away to grad school next year and I really just want to get my RN out of the way and go back to school where he is to get my bachelors. If I do Sentara's BSN program i have like 7 more prereqs to take and another 2.5 years to get out of the program. If I go to TCC and suck it up I can start this may and be done in a year and a half through their LPN to RN. I'm at a loss of what to do...anyone have any information that could help me?
  11. I went today for the mandatory nursing meeting at TCC. I took off work for it. When I got there they told me they moved it to wednesdays. I feel like TCC's nursing program is unorganized somewhat. I have all of my prereqs done for the program and can apply next month for LPN to RN. Im in a dilemma though...I didnt really like TCC's nursing campus, the people were rude, the classrooms didnt look appealing. Im debating on going to Sentara. However, Sentara only has an LPN to BSN program which in the long run is going to be like 3 years longer and way more prereqs. My fiance is going away to grad school and my plan was to go back to school after i graduated with my RN to get my BSN where he is. Does anyone have any information, former experiences through TCC? I really just want to get my RN out of the way and go away with my fiance and get my BSN so we're not apart for like 4 years ya know? I really didnt like TCC nursing program though!
