  1. Thank you so much, I don't have time to do a 8 mo. course, so I will grab that book. I just was hired per diem, but and I'm not sure when I start but I would like quick review. I will have to do it on my own:/ So the med. surg demystified sounds great! thanks
  2. how long was the course? what state did you do this at?
  3. Hi, I am thinking about going back to the hospital on a med/surg floor, and I need to know if anyone has any suggestions about resources it (books, online classes) that I can use to gear my self up. I feel a bit nervous because I have been out of the hospital for about 3 yrs. any advise is valued! Jays
  4. It depends upon you and the type of nursing you are doing. I find that I leave my job at work most of the time althoght some days a patient or situation comes up that causes you to question your decisions even on your day off. My husband can't stand it. I like talking to my fellow nurses when this happens. It's good to vent and get feed back.

what kind of nursing care did you administer, besides in take assessment?
  6. I have been a home health nurse for about 2 yrs, so weekend I worked (1 weekend a mo.). sat. consisted of me driving 34 mi. to my first appt. which was a open it takes about 1.5- 2 hrs, then I had 3 revisits that had me busy until around 200. Most of the charting I do in the home for revisits with exception the the narrative note. The open charting takes about another 1hr or more depending on the agencies paperwork. The assessment is called a oasis which is medicares way of know the initial status of the patient, and to follow up on the outcomes of the nursing service. example if the patient has a stage 2 dec. they would like to see it resolved by the end of the care. Often on the following day with visits I am following up on md. calls and labs. etc. the work goes beyond 8hrs sometimes but you can sched. around you life sometimes.

I am embarking on a new adventure. I applied for a job at a county jail, and would like some feedback. If anyone has any good or bad experience, please share.
